In June 2018, Bettina Gardelles launched the Incubateur du patrimoine (Heritage Incubator) within the Center des monuments nationaux (National Monuments centre – called “The CMN” - a French public structure under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture). This is the very first time that a cultural public institution supports start-ups inventing the future of heritage. What is at stake here is to cocreate new disruptive offers, introducing new techniques (such as artificial intelligence or cutting edge VR) that the institution could not bring without the start-ups.
Bettina Gardelles has a dual background in Art History and Museology at the Ecole du Louvre on the one hand; and in digital project management at the Sorbonne. She has been working for 4 years as a digital project manager at the Center des monuments nationaux and regularly teaches in French universities (CELSA, ESSEC, BSB, University of Bordeaux and Avignon, etc.) to pass on her knowledge of digital strategies in cultural public institutions.
